DESCRIPTION:AVON WOODLANDERS DAY \n With Devon Wildlife Trust\nBringing fellow Woodland owners together from across \nthe Avon Valley \n  \nThursday 13th March\n11 am – 3 pm \nThe aims of the day: \n\nLearn about how Deer Wood is managed from a conservation woodland management perspective\, but also as a social enterprise – The Deer Wood Trust CIC and how this benefits both the wood\, wildlife and the community.\nIntroduce the Deer Wood Native Tree Nursery and the Woodland Horticulture Course.\nHave a tour of the site with a Q&A session in the Outdoor Learning Shelter.\nConnect woodland owners\, share ideas and how best we can all support each other.\n\nAn *optional hot\, organic\, plant-based lunch will be served in the outdoor kitchen at a base cost of £5 per person. \n*This is a plant-based site – if you prefer to bring a packed lunch please can it not contain any meat\, fish or poultry. \nPlease note that in the interest of the wildlife\, this is a no dogs allowed woodland venue. \nWe have spaces for up to 15 cars and 20 people. \nPlease can enquires go to Lynne Kenderdine – lkenderdine@devonwildlifetrust.org \n

DESCRIPTION:PERSONAL TOUR OF OUR OFF-GRID LIFE\nat Deer Wood\n \nDates for 2023 \nSat 15th July & Sat 12th Aug \n3 pm – 5 pm \nLisa & Marc\, Co-founders of The Deer Wood Trust C.I.C.\, are opening the gates of their home Deer Wood. \n \nBy popular request\, they will be giving 2 more personal guided tours of their off-grid life a year\, showing how they live and work\, all in harmony with this beautiful native woodland. \nIt is a fantastic opportunity to learn about how these ‘Woodland Permaculturalists’ let nature lead in all aspects of how they co-exist with it in a mutually beneficial way\, where the guiding principles are to nurture nature and bring well-being to both people and the planet. \n  \n \nJoin Lisa & Marc on a walk and talk around the wood\, the native tree nursery\, their off-grid home\, the permaculture garden\, and learning and well-being areas for an inspiring insight into how we can all be in greater alignment with the Earth. \n  \nPlease arrive between 10.45 – 11.00 so we can park you as the tour begins immediately. \nTo book please contact Lisa at: thedeerwoodtrust@gmail.com \nCOST – Suggested donations from £ 5-10 are gratefully received and go towards our conservation work and social outreach programmes. \nSPACES: There is parking for 10 cars and room for up to 20 people (lift sharing recommended)\, only suitable for children over 10yrs old & must be accompanied by an adult. \nNo dogs\, please. \nDIRECTIONS: \n Deer Wood\, Loddiswell TQ74EE \nIf you have sat nav it will take you to where the fork in the road is ( as described below) & you need to turn right into the wood.\nIt is nearly all single-track lanes so please drive slowly and mindfully. \nPlease could you ensure your footwear is clean of any mud\,I will also need to spritz them before you walk through the wood as we are having to be very careful about biological contamination ATM due to the prevalence of tree disease in this country.\nThank you \nDirections-\n1. If approaching from the A38 side go right at Loddiswell Butts and very carefully take the 1st sharp right turn by the Blackler Autos signage. \n\nIf approaching from the Kingsbridge side turn left into Loddiswell Butts and go straight ahead into the road that runs in between the 2 industrial parks.\n(Blackler autos sign & South Hams Car Parts on the right.)\nGo past the green Loddiswell Business Park sign to the left and after 1/4 mile take the 1st turning left on the bend (signpost as a dead end) down into a valley.\nGo 1/4 mile bear left past Alleron.\nGo down a long hill then around some bendy bits and over a small stone bridge.\nThen after a 100 yds the road forks & we are on the right with the metal gate.\n\nPlease park up on the left. \nWe look forward to welcoming you. \n

SUMMARY:Bluebell Open Weekend 31st -April - 1st May 2022
DESCRIPTION:You are invited to come and spend some time reconnecting with nature and enjoying the beautiful abundance of Bluebells that carpet Deer Wood.\n\n\nThis year we will be showcasing some of the courses and events we will be running and giving the opportunity to have a Q&A session with some of our guest teachers who will be popping by.\nOn Sunday William Alpass\, ‘Devon Forager’ will be assisting Lisa in the kitchen\, preparing some wild treats from the woodlands larder.\n\nOur main well-being outdoor therapist\, Lizzie Francolini\, will be on hand to talk about some of the innovative well-being courses that she is developing especially for Deer Wood.\nMarc will be demonstrating making traditional rustic benches in the carpentry area\,\nand regular volunteer Gill will be helping out\, meeting and greeting as well as chatting to anyone who is interested in volunteering about the types of projects she has generously dedicated her time and skills to.\n\nWe are very excited to be unveiling the area for the future ‘Outdoor Learning Shelter’ which is situated at the far side of the wood where the track ends.\n\nWe are currently fundraising to at last bring this long time goal to fruition so that the full range of our courses can be comfortably taught throughout the year\, whatever the weather.\nAn artist’s impression of the finished area will be on show along with a description of the main courses.\nAll in all\, it’s a big year for us and we are very grateful to everyone who has supported us in getting us to this landmark stage.\n\n*We request that if you are travelling by car\, please can you book in advance as we have limited parking.\nDogs are allowed but please keep them on a lead and scoop any poop.\nEveryone is welcome to bring along a vegetarian/plant-based picnic to eat in the outdoor kitchen area.\n\n\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/530991965288910
