A group formed by its participants for its participants
- INTENTION FOR THE GROUP:
- Comradeship – To support and be supported
- To listen and talk openly in a non-judgmental and confidential space
- Connecting with other guys from different backgrounds and age groups.
- Breakaway discussions between individual members can be at the end.
- Members don’t have to talk at each meeting, they can offer instead to listen and comment.
- Individual talk times will be limited to a given duration to ensure everyone gets to speak (Facilitated).
During talks direct advice is not given by members unless specifically asked for by the speaker, however sensitive encouragement to open up and talk more or go deeper about certain aspects can be given in the feedback after each person speaks.
Very often people have the answer to their problems or situations within themselves and to help them find this is the ‘art’ that should be cultivated by the group.

NO-GO DISCUSSIONS AND BEHAVIOUR
Pretty much everything is fair game within the bounds of civility. There are a few definite red lines not to be crossed though:

Misogynistic and racist or cruel, comments and tendencies, rudeness or bullying or overt soap-box standing.
Triggering topics in which others are likely to hold opinions that differ or are opposing if approached at all, should be done with care and sensitivity, such as politics and religion or certain other strongly held beliefs that may cause offence or significant disruption with the group.
This will be managed at the discretion of the facilitator of that evening. The careful fielding of the “No Go’s” and Behaviour will be the responsibility of the facilitator.
